DataStated vs Shopify Analytics

Shopify's reports come with your plan and cover the whole store. DataStated adds the part they leave out: whether Meta's claimed sales turned into paid orders.

Where Shopify Analytics wins

It's already paid for and already installed. It reports on products, inventory and customers, which DataStated doesn't touch, and you can write your own reports in ShopifyQL. Sidekick answers questions without leaving admin.

Keep Shopify Analytics

For products, inventory, customers and anything about the store's operations.

Add DataStated

When you spend on Meta ads and want to know which of their sales really happened.

Most stores run both

They don't conflict. DataStated reads orders and adds its own pixel; Shopify's reports stay as they are.

Adding it takes two minutes

  1. Install from the Shopify App Store and approve. The pixel goes on for you, with no theme editing.
  2. Connect Meta Ads in settings so its claims can be checked.
  3. Wait a week and compare Meta's count with your paid orders.

Questions

Will DataStated change my Shopify reports?

No. It reads orders and runs its own pixel. Shopify's reports keep their numbers.

Why would the two show different sales by channel?

They give credit differently. Shopify uses the model you pick, last non-direct click by default. DataStated follows each buyer's recorded visits to the order.

Does it read my customers' names or emails?

No. It reads order and transaction ids, payment state, amounts, currency, timestamps and attribution fields. What is read

What about orders from before I install?

You can import the past 30 days, or any window up to 60 days, with one API request. How to import

How am I billed?

Through your Shopify bill. The first 14 days are free, and billing starts on the day you pick a plan.
